Villa Alta Mundi, St Martin, French Cul de Sac. 

Alta…Tall like the pool that sits perpendicular between the Caribbean Sea and Alta Mundi Villa. Tall like the order for something more in a vacation fulfilled right in this villa’s poolside bean bags. Tall like the champagne flutes that will celebrate a vacation spent tucked into the hill by the bay in French Cul de Sac, St. Martins.

Alta Mundi is four bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths (with four en-suite bathrooms and the half bath shared). Altogether, the villa sleeps eight. Each room has its own bathroom, shower, vanity, water closet, and television. Three bedrooms have access to the terrace and views of the pool, gardens, and the bay beyond. The garden is a vast lawn with a splash of palms surrounded by blue-painted boulders standing out in helter skelter unity against the lawn.

A feature wall on the main floor stands out between two bold-red potted plants and boasts a pattern like the skin of a giraffe made from a stenciled cutout in a tall, rectangular strip. Fun splashes of color and architecture, like sunshine yellow deck chairs; an oversized poolside beanbag (and miniature companions); a modern, featureless dog statuette; and a banister leading from the pool to the second floor that looks like broken glass tumbling down stairs in two-D—again using negative space to achieve the effect—give Alta Mundi a bright modern chic that invites fun and poolside enjoyment.

Upstairs, the second-floor dining consists of an alfresco dining set on terrace and a main living room space which is marked by reimagined barber-style lounge chairs—one in deep red, the other in platinum white leather. Black-and-white photographs featuring body/mind-positive themes add elegant contrast to the three oversized bare bulbs in sepia yellow that hang over the kitchen island. Another feature wall completes the journey from main floor to second floor.

Floral bedspreads, blue and yellow solid walls, and bold color accents bring the island alive at Alta Mundi.

A meal prepared at Alta Mundi can be arranged via our complementary concierges who will attend the needs of all guests, including chefs, catering, excursions, activities, rental cars, travel to and from the airport, and any other logistics that can alleviate potential stress for the guest. That something more, as it were. Come stay on the tall axis, as it’s known in Latin, that connects the heavens and the sea at Alta Mundi, St. Martin.

Note: A caretaker lives on the property in a separate accommodation. 

The villa is conveniently located close to Orient Bay beach with its water sports, restaurants and bars and the gourmet village of Grand Case, home to some of the island’s finest eateries.
